Hey there, my friend, welcome to episode 310 of the Small Business Made Simple Podcast.

Thanks for leading me your ears right now – I know you have lots of other things you could be doing or listening to – so I appreciate you.

I have to admit that today it’s been hard to podcast. I’m, honestly, not feeling it. Not sure why, perhaps it’s been a stressful time or busy time or maybe, just maybe, it’s me today. And I’m okay with that.

The reason why I start with that is because I went to ChatGPT today and asked it to examine all my podcasts (I put in my link) and asked it to come up with 10 new ideas that I hadn’t spoken about on the pod.

As I sipped my tea this morning on the couch and asked an AI machine to do my work for me, it suddenly stuck me, mostly because I looked back at all the times, I’d used ChatGPT this week, that today I should talk about that! Not some, pretty uninspiring suggestions, it gave me – I should be encouraging you to get more gold from my AI assistant, AI business partner, AI mastermind mind, like I do about 22 times a week. So that’s today’s topic. I am going to talk about all the things I’ve actually used ChatGPT for in August and why. With the goal of encouraging, you to use it more.

This episode isn’t sponsored by ChatGPT (although I wish it was!), but it is in fact sponsored by my Book Small Town Big Impact with 107 Simple Marketing Strategies for Regional Business Success. If you haven’t got a copy yet, go to www.socialmediaandmarketing.com.au and get a copy. It is available on Amazon – so you can get a kindle or hard copy there too – but I’d prefer you get it from my website!

But before you hear all about my adventures with ChatGPT, did you get a chance to listen to last week’s episode where I interviewed Justine McLean about her new book, about finances and about why we don’t love them or the concept of them (them being finance/money) as much as we should! If you haven’t listened to that episode, tune back into it after listening to today. Can you find it at www.socialmediaandmarketing.com.au/308

PS – if you have listened, did you reach out to Justine and let her know? She’d love that – go do that. And whilst you’re doing things, tag me on a post telling me you listened as well and what your biggest takeaway was!

And lastly, before we get into today’s episode I wanted to do a throwback Thursday to an episode from a while ago. This week’s throw back is to episode 255 which is titled 21 Ways to Grow Your Facebook Presence – who doesn’t want that?!?! And if you’re like, Jenn I’m not on Facebook, that’s okay, the 21 ways will help you on other platforms too. Fabulous episode to go back and listen to. You can find the episode here: www.socialmediaandmarketing.com.au/255

Okay, let’s get into it.

Firstly, I do love me some AI – it helps me enormously in my day to day business life. For all sorts of reasons and in all sorts of ways. And that’s what I want to share with you.

I want you to think outside the box when it comes to having AI help you with your business, your content, your finances, all of it!

So, here’s all things I’ve asked it to do in the last month – actually let’s just say some of the things, otherwise we’d literally be here for an hour listing them and no one wants that!

  • Podcast episode ideas
  • New keynote thoughts, ideas and outline
  • LinkedIn Headlines for clients on my retreat
  • LinkedIn Bio enhancements, again for my clients on my LinkedIn Retreat
  • VA business tag line suggestions
  • Summary of my podcast transcript to make social media posts and emails from – I asked it for the 3 main points that would interest small business owners and would most likely entice them to click and listen
  • I uploaded a PowerPoint presentation and asked it to create a blurb for the presentation including an outcome and a reason to attend
  • More summary transcripts from my podcast – pulling out the most important bits
  • Social Media draft posts to help sell my Nine Week Marketing Transformation Program
  • I asked it to find 28 Australian business podcasts that small to micro business owners were likely to listen to for an infographic I was creating for Social Media
  • I uploaded a list of ways to repurpose social media content and asked it to add 9 more ways I hadn’t thought of
  • I uploaded an infographic and asked it to create a blog post, social post from it
  • Ohhh, I loved this one! I asked it to find 10 inspiration sayings that I had said (yep, I asked it to find stuff Jenn Donovan had said) and put it into a downloadable spreadsheet so I could bulk create posts in Canva for socials – I didn’t just want inspo sayings, I wanted things I’d said. I gave it links to my website and a few other places and it found some great stuff!
  • I asked it where I could go to find infographic templates – I wanted websites. I have to say it failed at this one, I didn’t find what I was looking for, so I created them myself in Canva! Took ages, but I will be repurposing the heck out of them!
  • I am getting ready to create the next Big Small Business Survey for 2024. I have drafted some questions, but wanted to know if I was missing anything – so I asked it to create some questions for me that would help collect data that would give me the outcome I want. Out of the questions I suggested, I will probably use 1 – but that’s one I didn’t have beforehand!
  • I asked it to help me with an award application I was doing.
  • I asked it to create a logo for a company to show that it could! I was live on stage, doing an AI presentation and someone asked “Can ChatGPT create a logo for a business?” – so we did!
  • I asked it to create some content that had a “Gossip Girl” theme to it, and it did! This was done live on stage too – showing that you could ask it to theme your content for a launch – I did love this one! I am a Gossip Girl fan – original not modern!

Look, I could go on and on. Some of the AI presentations that I’ve done in the last month have been fabulous and we have done some great stuff on stage to showcase and inspire. But I’ll leave it there as far as showcasing just a few of the activities I’ve asked the platform to do for me. I counted and I have used it 46 times in August already and there’s still a week or so to go. So, I really do use it often!

Has that inspired you to either sign up to ChatGPT or to start looking at how you can use it for to help make your business life simpler? Because that’s the goal, right? Marketing can be overwhelming, so we need to use the tools we have to make it as easy as possible.

To help you get the most out of ChatGPT, I’ve got a little workbook gift/download for you. The link is in the show notes – https://jenn-donovan.myflodesk.com/chatgpt

The workbook is necessary because it shows you how I get the best from this AI machine. I just don’t type in some wild, 5 word instruction, I go deep, I ask it to pretend to be something like a marketing expert, I tell it who the audience that I want to read or listen to it, I tell it to analyse this website or that one, I get seriously specific in my requests. I get good answers because I ask good questions – like life really! Detail is your best friend to get ChatGPT to give you answers you can use.

So, go get the download now!

Also, I NEVER, ever just use what ChatGPT spits out at me – like never. I always read it, tinkler with it – somethings completely redraft or other times, just fix up a few things and make it more “Jenn” like before putting it out into the world.

I guess sometimes, maybe like you, I just need someone to give me the idea, then I can run with it, or I just want someone to bounce an idea or two off – and that’s my AI machine for me because I work in my office with me!

Got questions? Feel free to reach out or head into the Like Minded Facebook Group and ask and tag me in some questions there.

But my BIG question to you is – HAVE I INSPIRED YOU TO THINK DIFFERENTLY about ChatGPT? Because that’s the outcome I am looking for from this podcast episode! Let me know. Delight me with your response or push me to be better, if you still aren’t inspired!

Now, if you don’t have a ChatGPT account – sign up here: https://openai.com/chatgpt/

If you prefer a different AI machine like one from Gemini or Copilot – that’s totally great – my workbook will still help with those.

Oh, and I just wanted to say also, that although I think the free versions are great and will definitely be helpful – sometimes paying for tools, like this, because they help you and save you so much time and energy, is a perfect marketing expense. I do pay for ChatGPT.

So, my giggle aunt pod listener, that’s it! That’s it for episode 310.

If you loved this episode and found it valuable, please take 30 seconds out of your day to leave me a rating and review if you want where you are listening. And do you have a friend who might like to listen in too? Can I ask a favour, and have you share this episode with them? I’d love that and appreciate it SO much.

See you next week on the podcast for episode 311.

But in the meantime, let’s hang out on social and get social on social – you’ll find me on Instagram, Facebook, and my fav LinkedIn.

But whatever you do,

…….. remember small business peep, as my opening song says, there’s no point in dreaming small!
