Hey there, my fabulous listener, welcome to episode 86 of the Small Business Made Simple Podcast.
Thank you for lending me your ears today – I know you have lots of choices, so I sincerely appreciate me being one of them!
If you’re a first time listener, super super welcome, I am so pleased to have you here. I am your host Jenn Donovan, and it’s my job, via this podcast, social media and everywhere else actually, to make your business life simpler.
I’m a thought leader when it comes to marketing here in Australia and I’m a marketing strategist for small business.
Why? Because business can be lonely and hard and complicated and it’s hardly ever easy, but it should be simple or at least simpler, so that’s my commitment you to on the Small Business Made Simple podcast!
One way I help to make your life simpler is by having a group of like-minded business owners all in one stop. To ask questions, get answers and enjoy the journey of business! If you haven’t joined the Like Minded Business Owners Facebook Group, then hope over there after this episode and join! Next one starts 1st September. Be challenged and invest in yourself.
Today I have my friend Stacey Granitch – described as the jam to my cream scones!
Stace is my Instagram expert friend.
When Instagram is driving me totally insane, I go to Stacey.
Her love for Instagram is equal to my love of LinkedIn.
In fact I was on her podcast talking all about LinkedIn just recently – I’ll put the link to that conversation in the show notes at www.socialmediaandmarketing.com.au/86
http://thesocialhubau.com/thirtyfive/
I love chatting to Stacey about Instagram and marketing collectively – because we think the same.
We are both have an abundance mindset, we both believe in no silver bullet to success on social media (I know, so disappointing!) and we both believe in human to human, conversational marketing.
Now, before we get into the interview, I have a confession to make.
Stacey and I recorded this about 6 weeks ago.
Personally, I’m impressed I’m that organised with my podcast, but this time it’s been a little to our detriment.
Platforms change SO quickly.
You know that already I’m sure.
So, in the interview, you’ll hear us discussing hashtags on Facebook and that they aren’t a thing. But 6 weeks on, now they are!
Yep, Facebook is FINALLY embracing the use of hashtags on their platform.
Marie Smith – one of the world’s leading experts on Facebook published a blog (A definitive guide to the Facebook Hashtag 2020) about their use back in July 2020. A link to it is in the show notes.
My biggest piece of advice around this update to their use on Facebook is to head to your search bar in Facebook and start typing the hashtags that you would use to be found for on Instagram and see what comes up!
Check first, perhaps, that you are actually coming up for those hashtags on Instagram too!
Anyway, with that little piece of extra information, let’s get into the interview and welcome Stacey to the podcast.

I hope you enjoyed that episode with Stacey! She’s a really top Instagram chick – I’m so lucky to have her in my world and to share with you as well.
I’d love to know what you learned from this one. My hope is that it’s to show up, to do the best you can with Instagram and share good content that’s of interest to your potential buyer.
Simple? Sort of. Work? 100%. But I guess the lesson is, is that marketing isn’t that different wherever you hang out.
H2H, human to human marketing – Conversational Marketing.
So, that’s it for episode 86.
As mentioned at the beginning this episode is sponsored by my 30 day social media & marketing challenge – to get on the wait list go to https://bit.ly/jennswaitlist
