AMPLIFYING YOURSELF AND YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA

by | Apr 29, 2024 | Business Building Musts, Everything Social Media, Marketing Strategies

This blog is all about how to use social media to amplify yourself and your business.

What is an amplifier you might ask?

Well, to me, it’s things like speaking, podcasting, media commentating, referrals, writing books, creating lead magnets.

It’s basically anything that amplifies who you are and what you do and what you sell!

It’s what you do to ATTRACT people, potential buyers, or existing customers into your world.

So how do you use social media to amplify yourself and your business?

You are probably doing it now, maybe even successfully or perhaps you aren’t doing it successfully because you are overwhelmed! (Don’t worry you aren’t on your own there!)

Remember, at the end of the day, social media is about being social.

So if all you are doing is posting – then 50% of your marketing is not being done.

If you take away one thing from this episode, take that away. Do more reach out, be more social, show up for your community, leave comments, love, likes, share some posts – treat others on social media, the way you would love to be treated.

But here’s some other points about using social media as an amplifier:

1.Understand how your story impacts your business.

People do business with people they know, like and trust. Or at least they do when it comes to small businesses. Unfortunately, people will do business with people they don’t trust when it comes to big business – for example, Woolworths or McDonalds, simply because they do something else for us – they make our lives simple.  It’s an unfortunate truth.

But for you, telling your story is powerful. Stories amplify your message and your business.

You don’t have to tell your WHOLE story, but you do need to let people in a little. Being a faceless small business owner means that gaining traction is slower and sometimes harder going. Work out the bits you are happy to tell and the bits you aren’t and start there.

If you don’t know where to start, go get your phone right now, click record and introduce yourself. Say “hey, I’m the person behind xyz, I started this business because ….. here’s three things you probably didn’t know about (choose either the business or yourself).

Amplify your business through consistent storytelling.

2. Know your audience and be where they are!

No use trying to amplify your business, your story or you when you are shouting into the abyss because there’s no one interested in what you have to say because you are in the wrong place. Know these people, know where they hang out and tailor your content to meet their needs and interests, foster engagement and build that community around your brand.

3. Make sure everything is up to date.

Facebook just added more characters to the bio part of your Facebook Page. Go check it out. If you’re on Instagram, is your bio there all about you or is it about what you can do for them? Make it about your community – not you.

Social media will only work as an amplifier if the foundations are in order. If someone comes across your content, your bio, you on social media but they can’t work out who you are, what you do, what you sell or what’s in it for them, then your amplifier is more likely to repel them than attract them.

4. Use social media to build your network and build loyalty to your brand.

These two things, building a network and building loyalty might seem different but they really aren’t when talking about amplifiers or attraction. No one in your network is going to refer you to a customer or client if they don’t like your brand or the way you are showing up on social media.

They might not be your customers parting with money, but they are attracted to you for the same reasons your customers are – you align with their values, they have had the opportunity to know, like and trust you.

Your network is very much in line with your net worth – I truly believe that. Head back to listen into episode 71 to learn more about this concept or read the my blog on it here: https://socialmediaandmarketing.com.au/your-network-is-your-net-worth/

Put in some energy to building your network and your business will grow because of it – I promise!

5. Build Your Community!

I wrote about how audiences are dead and it’s time to build your community in my blog “3 Must Know Social Media Marketing Tips”  but I wanted to rehash it here too because it is SO important.

Building a community online, or even building it online to take offline – into an email list, a face to face event etc, is crucial to your business.

Social media is a great place to find people who want to belong to a community like yours. And communities are great amplifiers to what you do, who you do it for and why you do it. Probably by the end of 2024, you’ll roll your eyes are how many times I talk about community building, because it will be a lot, but it’s important, so very important – start now – like today, if you aren’t already.

So, to finish, here’s a list of 13 reasons to use social media as an amplifier of your business:

  1. Build Relationships and Stay Connected
  2. Find Your Voice
  3. Show Empathy and Kindness
  4. Offer Support
  5. Communicate Better
  6. Spreading Good News
  7. Build Your Business
  8. Establish Authority
  9. Drive Traffic to your website
  10. Enhance Your Customer Experience
  11. Learn and Educate Yourself
  12. Gain some Motivation
  13. Find your creative flair
