Hey there, my friend, welcome to episode 334 of the Small Business Made Simple Podcast.

Thanks for leading me your ears right now โ€“ I know you have lots of other things you could be doing or listening to โ€“ so I appreciate you.

Did you get a chance to listen in to episode 333? It was all about me sharing the results, or some of the results, of the Big Small Business Survey that I co-authored with my colleagues Katrina McCarter, Tracy Sheen and Andrew Griffiths. You can listen where you are now or go to my link: www.socialmediaandmarketing.com.au/332 and you can get the results of the Big Small Business Survey here: www.thebigsmallbusinesssurvey.com

Hey, but before I get onto todayโ€™s episode which is all about 10 minute marketing activities โ€“ for those who just donโ€™t have time for marketing โ€“ I wondered if you were keen to jump on my waitlist for the Social Media and Marketing Australia Conference thatโ€™s happening mid-year? Itโ€™s happening in Melbourne and although tickets are not on sale just yet, you can be the first to snap them up, see the speaker line up, check out the opportunities to get your brand in front of a few hundred business owners and more, simply by putting your name on the waitlist โ€“ the non-commitment wait list! Okay, so today on the podcast, I am going to give you 11 different 10-minute marketing activities that I know you can do to help improve your sales, brand awareness, engagement and growth. You ready? You got 10 minutes to not only listen to this BUT to take some 10 minute action? Of course, you do!

Letโ€™s do this.

  1. Batch-create 5 Instagram stories sharing 1. Behind the scenes, 2. A poll for your audience, 3. a Q&A for your audience, 4. A shout-out to another business you love, trust and want more people to know about and 5. Promote something you have for sale.
  2. Go Live for 5 minutes. That means you have 5 minutes to set up the live, and fiddle with it afterwards by adding captions, headlines or whatever is needed. Have a sticky note with 3 points you want to make in the live.
  3. Send 3 DMs to past clients or new leads โ€“ keep it simple superstar and simply ask how they are doing, or how 2025 is going so far or how x project went (find something personal that you know because they are your past client or new lead!). PS โ€“ if you have time also follow up with one or two warm leads.
  4. Engage with 5 peopleโ€™s posts on your preferred platform โ€“ like LinkedIn or Instagram.
  5. Write a quick email to your list. Maybe itโ€™s just a check in or repurposing a social media post thatโ€™s done well. Donโ€™t be too fancy, just add value.
  6. Resend an old email that did well with some slight tweaks โ€“ obviously make sure itโ€™s still relevant!
  7. Update your Google Business Profile โ€“ add a new photo or respond to a review or upload a new update (repurpose a social media post)
  8. Give your website SEO some love and check for broken website links on a platform like https://www.brokenlinkcheck.com/
  9. Pitch yourself for a podcast โ€“ remember I have a one pager that I can share with you as an example of something to send podcasters so they can see your topics, who you are and why they would want to know you more! Check out https://www.greataustralianpods.com/ for a directory of podcasts you could reach out to. PS โ€“ please donโ€™t cold pitch, we all get enough of those and itโ€™s pretty obvious that most donโ€™t even listen to the podcast โ€“ so be a listener and then a guest. Pro-tip!
  10. Schedule a coffee chat (or virtual chat) with another business owner โ€“ embrace the power of networking as part of your marketing strategy!
  11. Check your analytics โ€“ what content is performing best โ€“ do more of that content!

Thatโ€™s 11!

Marketing doesnโ€™t have to be overwhelmingโ€”it just needs to be consistent.

10 minutes a day adds up to over 60 hours of marketing a year! Is that more than you are currently doing?

So, what, from the list above is the one 10-minute marketing task youโ€™ll do today after tuning in here? Or is there another 10 minute marketing task you do, that you could share? Head to the Like Minded Business Owners Facebook group and tell me in there.

If I had to choose just one to do, out of those 11, it would be number 4 โ€“ engage with others. This strategy is worth itโ€™s 10 minutes a day and creates so much momentum in your business. That is, if you are providing valuable comments, strategic comments โ€“ not just โ€œwell doneโ€ or โ€œYAY for youโ€ comments but a comment that adds value.

Thereโ€™s loads more 10 minute marketing activities you could do โ€“ let me know if you want to know more or if you want to know what I do for 10 minutes to build my brand.

But, as usual, Iโ€™ll be back next Thursday with some more marketing know-how in episode 335.ย

If youโ€™re enjoying this podcast, donโ€™t forget to subscribe so you never miss an episode and share this with a friend.ย  And maybe leave me a rating and a review wherever you listen in.ย  Those things are like gold for podcasters like me!ย  PS โ€“ you can leave more than one rating and review โ€“ just saying!

If we arenโ€™t hanging out on social media then letโ€™s get social on social โ€“ youโ€™ll find me on Instagram, Facebook, and my fav LinkedIn.

But whatever you do,

โ€ฆโ€ฆ.. remember small business peep, as my opening song says, thereโ€™s no point in dreaming small!
