Hey there, my friend, welcome to episode 345 of the Small Business Made Simple Podcast.
Thanks for leading me your ears right now – I know you have lots of other things you could be doing or listening to – so I appreciate you.
Today… we are funnel building! Why? Because you need to be nurturing people from lead to list to sale to customer and how do you start – with the lead landing on your list. How do you get them on your list – with a funnel!
But before we get funnelling (!), did you have a chance to listen to last week’s episode? It was where I reframed the throw away phrase “just be consistent” – because just being consistent won’t help you with your marketing. Take a listen to episode 344 here: www.socialmediaandmarketing.com.au/344

Okay, onto today’s episode.
If you’ve ever said, “Funnels take too long”, or “I don’t have time to build one”—then ohh friend, this episode is your wake-up call.
Because today, we’re building a micro funnel—in 24 hours. Yep, one day. No tech overwhelm. No 67-email sequences. Just a super smart, super simple system that guides people from “who are you?” to “how do I pay you?”
So, whether you’re launching something soon, need a quick win, or just want to stop sending people to a dead-end website—let’s do this.
Let’s start with the basics.
A micro funnel is a simplified version of a full-blown marketing funnel. Think of it as a mini journey that:
- Attracts attention
- Builds trust quickly
- Offers something valuable
- And leads to a clear next step—ideally a sale, a booking, or a lead
It’s called micro because it’s fast to create, focused on one audience, one offer, one goal.
No complicated tech, no multiple pathways, no overthinking. Just action.
And the best part? You can absolutely build it in a day.
Alright, before we dive into the how, here’s what you need:
1 audience – Be super clear. Not “anyone with a business”—but “service-based business owners who need content ideas,” or “busy mums looking for eco-friendly gifts”.
1 offer – Pick something easy to say yes to. It could be a product, a consult, a low-ticket workshop, or even just a lead magnet if you’re building your list.
1 goal – What’s the outcome of this funnel? Book a discovery call? Download a freebie? Buy a product? Choose ONE.
That’s your funnel’s focus. And now—we build.
You can do this in one sitting, or space it out over the day.
Create Your Freebie or Entry Point
This could be:
- A simple PDF checklist (use Canva!)
- A 5-minute video tip
- A swipe file or template
- A “get started” guide
It must solve one problem your audience has. Not everything. Just one thing that makes them say, “Oh, I need this!”
Use tools like:
- Flodesk, MailerLite, or ConvertKit, for your opt-in form
- Canva or your website builder for a clean, clear page
Landing page must include:
- A strong, benefit-driven headline
- 3 bullet points explaining what they’ll get
- A single CTA button: Download Now, Send Me the Freebie, etc.
Extra non-negotiable: Add a thank-you page that nudges them to book a call, shop a product, or join your community.
Write Your Follow-Up Email
This is the magic sauce.
You’re not building a funnel without a follow-up, friend. One email is better than none. Here’s the structure:
- Subject line: Here’s your [freebie name]!
- Opening: Thank them and deliver the thing.
- Middle: Tell them why it matters, why it works, and how it helps them.
- Close: Invite them to take the next step. That could be:
- Book a 15-minute chat
- Buy your $47 offer
- Follow you on Instagram
- Hit reply with their biggest struggle
That’s your micro funnel.
Freebie ➡️ Landing Page ➡️ Email ➡️ Next Step.
Done.
Now let’s get eyeballs on it.
You don’t need ads or a massive list. Try this instead:
- Post about it on your socials (use a reel, carousel, and story with a link)
- Drop it into a Facebook group where your audience hangs out—with value first, not just a link dump
- Send it to your existing list—even if it’s tiny. They already love you.
- Ask a biz buddy to share it or feature it in their newsletter
And remember it’s not about hundreds of leads. It’s about the right ones.
Okay—let’s wrap this up with some encouragement.
Your 3 Micro Funnel Truth Bombs:
- Funnels don’t need to be big, fancy or techy—they just need to work.
- Clarity beats complexity. One audience. One offer. One goal.
- You can absolutely build a micro funnel in 24 hours—if you stop overthinking it.
Your micro funnel won’t be perfect—and that’s the point. You start, then tweak as you go. Done is better than perfect.
Need more help – go to the show notes for this podcast, copy and paste the formula and information above into ChatGPT. Ask it to create it all for you, first explaining who your audience is, in as much detail as you can, and asking it to use UK English spelling and the brand and tone of your business (you might need to tell it the brand and tone if you don’t use Chat very often).
Stop making this hard. Let AI make it simpler for you. Of course, don’t just cut and paste what the AI machine spits out – make sure it’s on brand and on tone for you.
I sure hope this episode gave you a little “I can do this” moment, and therefore I want to hear about it! DM me and tell me what your micro funnel will be.
Or better yet, come join us in the Like Minded Business Owners Facebook group and share your progress. Let’s cheer each other on.
