Because this week, we’re talking about consistency—the kind that comes from showing up, week after week, for over six years on this very podcast. And let me tell you… it’s taught me more than a few things about business, mindset, and that sneaky voice that says, “Maybe it’s time to quit?”
But before we start quiet quitting – did you get a chance to listen in to episode 341? In episode 341 I talked about the algorithm and building more click-less content into your marketing strategy. What Running a Podcast for 6+ Years Has Taught Me About Consistency (and When to Quit Something)
So, whether you’re running your own podcast, showing up on socials, writing emails to an inbox full of tumbleweeds, or just struggling to keep the momentum going—this episode for you.
Let’s rewind to the start.
This podcast began out of necessity, if I am totally honest. I’d come out of a partnership where I had heroed my business partner and kept myself in the shadows and then found myself feeling invisible with the question – how the heck am I going to stand out in this awfully crowded marketplace that’s marketing and business coaching.
So, I choose podcasting. A part of me wishes I’d chosen YouTubing … but that’s another story!
Back then, I didn’t know if anyone would listen. I didn’t have fancy gear. And my voice? Let’s just say the editing budget was zero and the confidence was shakier than ashtray on a motorbike.
But what I did have was a commitment: to show up and keep showing up.
Because consistency builds trust. And trust builds community.
Even when I wasn’t sure who was on the other end of the headphones, I kept hitting record. And now? Over 335 episodes later, I’ve learnt that consistency isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence.
Now don’t get me wrong—being consistent is hard. I don’t swear on my podcast – so insert BIG swear word before “hard”.
There were weeks when I didn’t feel like I had anything to say. Weeks when life was messy, business was busier than a sausage sizzle at Bunnings, and recording a podcast felt like climbing Everest in thongs.
But here’s what I learnt:
Consistency doesn’t mean burnout. It means knowing what’s non-negotiable and building habits around it.
Consistency requires grace. Some episodes were five-star. Others? Meh. But they all mattered.
Consistency is what makes people trust you. Not the fancy funnel. Not the perfect Canva post. Just showing up, again and again.
And the best part? It compounds. The impact grows over time—even if you can’t see it in real time.
Now let’s get honest—because this wouldn’t be a Jenn podcast without a little truth bomb…
Sometimes, quitting is the right call.
There’s a difference between quitting because it’s hard and quitting because it’s no longer aligned with where you’re going.
Here’s how I decide if something needs to go:
- Is this still serving my audience?
- Is it still serving me and my goals?
- Am I staying consistent because I’m committed—or because I’m afraid to pivot?
Spoiler: You’re allowed to change your mind. You’re allowed to evolve. Your audience will come with you if you take them on the journey.
But quitting just because it’s gotten hard? That’s where the magic of consistency kicks in. That’s where growth happens.
Oh, and quitting and have a break for a while to reflect are also two different things.
So, what has six years of podcasting really taught me?
Here are my top five lessons:
- Start before you’re ready. If you wait for perfect, you’ll be waiting forever. Trust me, this podcast would never have aired if I waited until I was ready or perfect. Episode 1 is evidence to that.
- People don’t need you to be polished—they need you to be present.
- You’ll get better with every episode. Every post. Every email.
- The “slow burn” audience is the best kind—they stay, they buy, they cheer you on.
- You are more consistent than you think—you just need to track it.
Every single episode I’ve published has been a brick in the foundation of this community. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
From today’s episode, here’s what I want you to walk away with:
Your Top 3 Takeaways:
- Consistency beats perfection—every time.
- You’re allowed to re-evaluate what you do—but don’t quit just because it’s hard.
- Small, repeated actions create big, lasting results.
Whether it’s your podcast, your emails, your Instagram stories—showing up matters. And when it stops feeling aligned, you’ll know.
If this episode resonated with you—please share it with a business buddy who needs a little pep talk today.

People Also Ask:
Why is consistency important in business?
Consistency builds trust, keeps your audience engaged, and creates long-term results. It’s more powerful than perfection in marketing and content creation.
How do I stay consistent with my podcast or content?
Build habits around your non-negotiables, give yourself grace, and focus on presence over polish. Start small and stick with it.
When should I quit something in business?
Quit if it no longer serves your goals or audience. But don’t quit just because it’s hard—some of the best growth comes after the tough seasons.
How do I stay visible when I struggle with showing up?
Start by showing up in small, sustainable ways. One email, one story, one podcast episode at a time. Small steps, done consistently, lead to big impact.
What can podcasting teach me about consistency?
Podcasting teaches presence, resilience, and the power of slow growth. Every episode adds trust, connection, and community over time.
